"My father-in-law, Don Miller and I purchased our Funk from Frank Beletz and Harold Carter in April of 1990 and she has been a pleasure to fly since then. She is a B-85C, serial #377 manufactured in 1946 and registered as N77747.
Frank and Harold lost their medicals and were reluctant to sell her. When Dad and I found her and convinced Frank we would take good care of her, we purchased her in 1990. Frank and Harold owned her since she was new. They purchased her from a car dealer in St. Louis who was trying to sell new Funk airplanes and cars off the same lot. Frank provided us with all the log books and flight records since her first test flight at the Coffeyville factory. We flew her a couple of years after we purchased her and then recovered the wings and repainted her.
We have her based at Fischer Airport in New Baden, Illinois. She was featured in EAA's "Sport Aviation" magazine in Sept/Oct 1996 in "The Tale of Two Funks". Dad and I fly her to the FAOA reunion at Coffeyville and the EAA Fly-in/convention at Oshkosh, Wisconsin every year. Oh, by the way, Frank Beletz stops by every once in a while and we take him flying with N77747 so that he can reminisce and tell us all his Funk stories. She is a GREAT airplane to fly!
