Keeping Memories Alive

The Museum is located in Pfister Park, Coffeyville, Kansas

Dedicated to early aviation and pioneer pilots of the area, the Aviation Heritage Museum features memorabilia from the Coffeyville Air Base, a Funk airplane and Breezy, owned by Joe Funk and donated to the museum, plus many other displays. Located in Pfister Park, the museum is housed in a 1930's era hangar that was used when the Big Hill Airport was in operation from 1933 to 1960. The hangar was constructed in 1933 as a Works Progress Administration project. The Museum is open for tours Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday and by appointment.

The Coffeyville area has enjoyed progress and prosperity throughout this century. The aggressive and hard working people living here engaged in many endeavors and successful activities. This heritage and history warrants recognition of these people and their contributions. Museums provide an excellent avenue to collect and present these activities and accomplishments of past years. Everyone in the area can make their contribution.

Properly arranged and displayed these years past will present an interesting insight for all to enjoy. At the same time a museum can provide inspiration to future generations.

Aviation in this area has even a brighter future and promises to add considerably to our growth and prosperity.
