Of The FUNK Brothers -H.C Funk And J.C Funk
(Born In The City Of Akron, OHIO, 1910

The First aircraft designed and built by the Funk and Associates was their model CG2 Glider. A two-place training type Glider manufactured in the early part 1933, at Akron, OHIO. No further aircraft of this design were produced again.

The next aircraft produced by the Funk Brothers was thier Model b two-placeairplane. This aircraft was designed and built in the early part 1934, in theCity of Akron. It was originally equipt with a Zeakley 3 cylinder radial engine.

The Zeakley powered Funk mono-plane proved to be extemely unreliable as far as the engine was concerned. Thus, calling for the production of a more desirable engine form. Funk Brothers then launched the Model E engine program. This was an engine adapted from automotive parts and adapted to aircraft use. It was an inverted four in line engine. It was made entirely of automotive components mainly from the ford model b cyclinder block crank shaft and connecting rods. Therafter, a number of automotive components were used, such as Plymouth PB model valve train the automotive Zenith IN carburator was used in the down draft configuration: with a 4 cylinder tractor magnito.
